Initially this started with me wanting a replacement for my mobilinkd and AP510. With feature creep it has turned into much more.<\/p>\n<p>The current board has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aliexpress.com\/item\/1PCS-SR-FRS-1WV-VHF-136-174MHz-Wireless-Voice-Intercom-Transceiver-Module\/32760115060.html\">VHF radio module<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/getchip.com\/pages\/chippro\">CHIP Pro<\/a> computer module running Linux ( NTC calls it gadget OS ) and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mikroe.com\/click\">Mikrobus<\/a> slot. I&#8217;m currently using the Mikrobus for a GPS module but there are lots of variants.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Features<\/h2>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to split the features into ones I&#8217;ve had the time to test with the current design and features that did work on previous designs but haven&#8217;t been tested on the current design or haven&#8217;t been tried at all.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Current features<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The OS is a slightly modified <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/nytowl\/Gadget-OS\/tree\/tnc\">Gadget OS<\/a><\/li>\n<li>There is a <a href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.com\/ChipTNC\/ChipTNC-www\">web server<\/a> that can display maps, receive APRS beacons and send APRS messages ( receive was broken last time I checked )<\/li>\n<li>Send and receive APRS messages using <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/wb2osz\/direwolf\">direwolf<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/thelifeofkenneth.com\/aprx\/\">APRX<\/a> interface for viscous digipeating<\/li>\n<li>Mikrobus slot that supports 3.3V serial modules for<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mikroe.com\/gnss-3-click\"> GPS<\/a><\/li>\n<li>1W <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aliexpress.com\/item\/1PCS-SR-FRS-1WV-VHF-136-174MHz-Wireless-Voice-Intercom-Transceiver-Module\/32760115060.html\">VHF module<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Previously working features<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>WiFi access point<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobilinkd.com\/\">mobilnkd<\/a> type interface for connecting to HT radios for higher power TX &#8211; I used the same interface as the mobilinkd so their cable will work<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.com\/ChipTNC\/ChipTNC-www\/blob\/master\/messaged.py\">messaged.py<\/a> module for sending and receiving APRS messages<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Untested HW features<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UHF radio module<\/li>\n<li>IO output including solid sate relays capable of switching 12V 1.5A DC<\/li>\n<li>SD card<\/li>\n<li>2nd USB port<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Possible Additional Software Features<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cross band audio repeater<\/li>\n<li>Cross band digipeater<\/li>\n<li>BT\/WiFi to software repositories<\/p>\n<p>The CHIP Pro gadget OS is on <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/nytowl\/Gadget-OS\/tree\/tnc\">github<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There is a repository that contains the gadget OS configuration files and install scripts for the <a href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.com\/ChipTNC\/ChipTNC-www\">webserver<\/a> environment on<a href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.com\/ChipTNC\/ChipTNC-www\/tree\/master\"> gitlab.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Getting and Building the Design<\/h2>\n<p>The PCBs can be ordered from OSH Park<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.digikey.ca\/short\/qqw480\">Here is a digikey version of the BOM.<\/a>The total BOM cost including the PCB but excluding the antenna is around $60.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assembling the Boards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some of the parts are small ( 0805 ) so you will need soldering gear that can do finer parts. All of the fine parts get mounted on the top side of the board near the RF module. I hope there is but I&#8217;ve been waiting for a year fro the CHIP pro&#8217;s I ordered and it&#8217;s been more than 4 months since I received any email from them.
